Surf School

Surf is for everybody, but remains an extreme sport!
Paddle out in the ocean with no experience is dangerous. Try to surf by your own is dangerous!

Kalufa surf instructors committed their all life to the ocean’s waves and they are officially recognized by:

• ISA: International Surfing Association
• FCS: federacion canaria surf
• FES: federacion española surf
• BSA: british surfing association

A surf school means to go on the beach that better meets beginner’s requirements, know safety rules and stay in the water under an experts’ supervision.
Beginners courses are hold in Lanzarote sand bottom beaches as Famara, Orzola and La Garita.

Basic level:

• History: surf, surfboards and surfers through years.
• Equipment: boards, wetsuits and complements.
• Waves: how a swell born, cross the ocean and break on the shore.
• Reefs: how different reefs make waves break differently, currents and dangers.
• Waves forecast: internet forecasts, waves and wind direction, tides, atmospheric pressure.
• Surf spots: wind, waves, currents, reefs, localism and attitude in the water.
• Safety: practical rules in the water and on the beach.
• Paddle: technique and posture to paddle on the surfboard.
• Duck dive: how to dive under oncoming white foams or waves.
• Take off: technique and timing to paddle and stand up on the surfboard being pushed by white foam or waves.

Intermediate level:

• Surf session to check your surfing skills
• Schedule: training program based on your surf skills.
• Timing: line up positioning and wave reading techniques.
• Advanced take off: technique and timing to stand up on the surfboard, drop and ride the wall of a wave.
• Wave riding: surf position, weight balance and change technique and up and down pumping technique.
• Basic turns: bottom turn, cut back and tube riding.

Advanced level:

• Every surf session will be filmed to be analyzed in theory lessons.
• Surf session to check your surfing skills and schedule a training program.
• Surf fitness.
• Surfboard balance, fast takeoff, tube riding, basic and advanced maneuvers.
• Surf contest tactic.
• Surf contest and free surfing psychological attitude.

Price includes: theory and practical lessons, hotel-surf school-beach pickup service, surfboard, wetsuit, complements, beach lunch (sandwich, water and fruit), photos, injury insurance.

Surf Camp

The Surf Camp is an all inclusive solution for alone surfers, groups and family. Opened to anyone older than 6, last at least one week and includes:

• Surf School: 25 hours surf lessons in 5 days from Monday to Friday including beach lunch (sandwich, water and fruit).
• Accommodation: Sharing our surf house or in a private apartments for couples or families.
• Airport - surf camp - beach pickup service.
• Tourist tour around Lanzarote.

Surf Boat

Wake up in the morning and have breakfast looking at perfect waves breaking far away from everybody else; every surfer’s dream becomes truth! As in Mentaway islands the boat crew takes care about sailing at night, cooking meals and help customers surfing the new waves. Surfboat courses include Lanzarote, La Graziosa, Lobos and Fuerteventura looking for the best conditions. Besides surfing the boat life includes activities as fishing, diving, sailing and wale watching! Kalufa sailing ship is the first and only surfboat in Canary Islands.

The surfboat needs at least 3 customers to sail and the trip includes:

• Airport – boat pick up services.
• Accommodation in double berth with private bathroom.
• 5 daily meals including water, coffee and tea.
• Free internet all day long.
• Photo and video service.
• Surf guide: help choosing the best wave depending on the forecast and help customers in the water.
