Lanzarote surf map
Canary Islands, talking about waves quality, are often called the Atlantic Hawaii. In this terms Lanzarote is Oahu and the 10 kilometers coast from Famara to La Santa are the famous North Shore!
An island in the middle of the ocean means 360 degrees of incoming swells and wind. In Lanzarote almost every day you can find waves and offshore wind just turning around the corner.
About localism
The surfing culture in Lanzarote appeared quite recently. Who has been lucky enough to grow up in this island and started to surf next door waves with few friends, now has to share the same wave with the same old friends, new friends and more and more people coming from all over the world
A wave is not just a wave. Behind every wave there are stories that a tourist cannot know. Stories about enthusiastic kids that in epic barrels and in inglorious wipeouts become men, stories about great friendships and unforgettable sessions, lot of good memories and some tragedies. Behind every wave there are stories that a tourist cannot know and cannot understand, but has to respect. Because a wave is not just a wave.
North-West Shore: Famara, Caleta Caballo and La Santa

.. small but not weak!
Lanzarote can be small in summertime, but never gets flat!
Usually north east trade wind blows off shore in La Santa. That’s what happens in a west wind day.
