Kalufa Surf Camp & School

LOCATION

Kalufa Surf School is located on Lanzarote, one of the most beautiful islands of the Canaries, volcanic archipelago situated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The Surf School is in the village or “pueblo” of La Santa, close by Tinajo, on the northwest coast of Lanzarote and just a few kilometers away from Tymanfaya National Park and Famara beach.

Kalufa Surf Camp is located a few minutes from the Surf School and is easy to reach it from Arrecife airport. You can either rent a car from the airport, or take public transport here called “guagua” or a taxicab.

Far enough from mass tourism, the village of La Santa is still an authentic and preserved fishing village, where you can often come across national sports teams such as athletics, rugby, triathlon, cycling, etc. training or preparing for the next championships. La Santa periodically hosts theme-weeks dedicated to different sports like cycling, tennis and surf, etc. as well as the famous Ironman and Lanzarote Marathon, the two major official sports events of the Island.

Lanzarote’s waves are suited for all surfing levels and the island is rated by experts as the “Hawaii of Europe”…

LANZAROTE: EARTH, WIND, WATER AND FIRE

Primordial energy, pure elements in eternal contrast.

Lanzarote is a charming island in the Atlantic Ocean.
You will enjoy its blue sky, stunning sunsets, starry night sky, and beautiful sandy beaches almost deserted.
Lanzarote is the sandy plain land of the Devil or “Jable”; it is the lava of the recent eruptions flowed from the deep Timanfaya craters – where the eyes get lost; it is the grapevine cultivations on the volcanic hills of La Geria; or the palm trees of green Haria Valley.

Lanzarote means history, myth and mystery. The legend tells that Lanzarote was once part of the mythical Atlantis, a huge island continent, bigger then Africa and Asia all together. This mysterious land was ruled by Poseidon King of the Seas and inhabited by the descendants of Atlis, the first King and son of the same Poseidon and one mortal woman.

As Plato writes, about 11.500 years ago Zeus, King of all Gods, punished the people of Atlantis for their belligerent and dangerous behaviour, with volcanic eruptions and sea quakes – a cosmic cataclysm which destroyed the island continent in just one night. Following the legend only Canary islands survived emerged – as they were the higher mountains of the lost continent – while the olds palaces and temples of Atlantis went lost in the vast bottom of the Ocean which right for this reason was later called Atlantic Ocean.

Lanzarote means art. It is the island where Nature has shaped the most beautiful artworks and the land where artists such as Cesar Manrique, Jesús Soto, Pepe Dámaso or Ildefonso Aguilar have found their inspiration.

Lanzarote is the most authentic island of Canary Archipelago and one of the most lovely and preserved places on earth.
